What are the symptoms of a rash?

A rash is an inflammation of the skin caused by direct contact with some substance. Symptoms include itching, redness, and small blisters in the area where the causative substance comes into contact. The causes of rashes can be broadly divided into two types: primary irritation caused by the irritation of the causative substance, and allergic rashes.

Possible causes of rash

Medically, rashes are known as contact dermatitis. Primary irritation, or contact dermatitis that occurs when the causative substance is highly irritating, occurs when strong acidic or alkaline chemicals come into repeated contact with the skin. Typical causes include kerosene, soap, and shampoo.

Allergic contact dermatitis can be caused by metals such as those found in jewelry, foods such as mangoes and ginkgo nuts, plants such as sumac, detergents, cosmetics, etc. While primary irritants can occur in anyone, allergic rashes are characterized by the fact that they only occur in people who have an allergic reaction to the substance.

Things to keep in mind when you have a rash

A rash occurs when a triggering substance comes into direct contact with the skin. Therefore, the most important thing is to avoid contact with the causative substance. If the cause is known, of course you should avoid it, but even if the cause is unclear, it is best to avoid contact with anything that may cause a rash as much as possible.

Also, if you have a rash from something, scratching it just because it itches will only make it worse. It’s painful, but it’s important to avoid scratching as much as possible. If the symptoms are severe or don’t improve, you should see a doctor.

Summary
