Cystitis requires appropriate treatment based on a doctor’s diagnosis

Cystitis is a common condition, especially among young women.
Many suffer from pain during urination and the unpleasant feeling of residual urine.

Cystitis occurs when bacteria (germs) infect the urethra, the passage through which urine passes, and spread to the bladder.
Therefore, antibiotics, which kill bacteria, are used.

However, antibiotics must be taken with the appropriate type for the appropriate period of time, and failure to follow this rule may result in ineffective treatment. At CLINIC TEN, we use appropriate antibiotics.

If you think you may have cystitis, please contact us.

What is cystitis?

Cystitis is a bacterial infection that causes inflammation of the bladder.

Cystitis is more common in women because the length of the urethra from the urinary outlet to the bladder is shorter in women than in men, making it easier for bacteria to enter the bladder.

Holding in your pee for a long time can cause bacteria that would normally be flushed out with urine to remain, leading to infection. Fatigue and stress also make you more susceptible to bacterial infection. For women, sexual intercourse and menstruation pose risks, so caution is advised.

Symptoms and characteristics of cystitis

The three most common symptoms are pain when urinating (painful urination), frequent urination, and cloudy urine. There is often a feeling of incomplete urination. In some cases, blood in the urine or discomfort around the bladder may also be present.

Although it is caused by a bacterial infection, cystitis does not cause fever. If you have symptoms similar to cystitis but have a fever, it is highly likely that the cystitis has led to an infection in the kidneys, causing pyelonephritis.

Treatment and precautions for cystitis

Since the cause is a bacterial infection, you will need to take antibiotics. Visit a hospital and get a prescription from your doctor. Please note that even if your symptoms improve, do not stop taking the prescribed antibiotics on your own judgment. It is important to finish the entire course of antibiotics. This is because even if your symptoms improve, bacteria may still remain, and stopping the medication may cause the remaining bacteria to multiply again.

It is also said that staying hydrated and urinating a lot is good for you. Urine is expected to have the effect of washing away bacteria, and for the same reason, it is said that women can prevent the disease by urinating after sexual intercourse.

Is cystitis contagious to other people?

Although cystitis is caused by a bacterial infection, it is not contagious.
